The Mincer!

21 Sep

Here we are at Padova bike show in Italy and our very own Marco Mori is busy signing up new riders for la squadra. Marco is pictured here with giro d’italia stage winner Michele Scarponi and Alessandro Guerciotti who is top man at Italian bike manufacturer Guerciotti. Marco is getting a reputation in the industry both here in Italy and the UK as the man to deal with. He is nickname in Italian is ‘Maccinato’ which translates in English to ‘The Mincer’.

14 Sep

on monday i’ll ride my bike to work with panniers fitted to carry my shirts for the week
on tuesday i’ll ride a mountain bike in the woods after work
on wednesday i’ll shave my legs
on thursday i’ll race a time trial
on friday i’ll go to the pub after work on my vintage raleigh
on saturday i’ll go for on our club run to the cafe
on sunday i’ll be on the turbo trainer
or a charity ride
or a sportif
or at a trail centre
or riding my fixed gear
so what is it with cycling that breeds cliques?
i’m not a roadie, or a racer, or an mtb-er, tourist or hipster.
i’m a cyclist…
we seem to have enough people who don’t like us out there, without falling out with each other…
by the way – i’m rather pleased with my new coffee mug that has a break lever for a handle!

La Squardra ride – Part 2

14 Sep

BLENHEIM PALACE SPORTIVE
The easiest way for everybody to do the ride is to register and pay yourselves online.  We ideally wanted to complete a full group booking but its taking a little too much time and its easier this way.  Also if you are staying over then again its best if this is arranged individually.  Lets keep everyone in the loop on the community whos booked on and whos staying where.
Click on the URLs listed below.  We have a discount code too supplied by the organisers.
La Squadra members benefit from a 10% discount on our £35 ticket price on each Sportive registration. You will have the opportunity to enter a discount count during the registration process – this is BBP112
Further details on our website www.bikeblenheimpalace.com or follow this link to go directly to registration;

Claremont Hospital Sportive – Reminder

11 Sep

On October 17th Claremont Hospital is holding its first organised 100km sportive. The ride starts and finishes at the hospital in Sandygate, is £25 to enter, and includes a goody bag, pasta at the end, etc.

Although this isn’t a La Squadra organised event it would be great to have as many Squadrista as possible ride. It could be the last mass-ride before Winter sets in so get involved without delay!!

For an entry form please email NicolaManton@claremont-hospital.com who in-turn will send you the info directly.

Here’s the route that’s been produced by Claremont…
